MY MUSIC.

Playing
To play music you have purchased simply navigate to the place you saved the files. Double click on a music file and it will launch Windows Media Player automatically.

What can you do with it?
As well as playing your music files on your computer, you can also copy them to other devices and enjoy them elsewhere as follows:

  • Files can be copied an unlimited number of times to up to two secure Portable Digital Music Players (PDMPs).
  • Files can be burnt to CD up to three times.

If you have trouble installing a licence, you are allowed up to two re-installs. Contact BigPond Music Technical Service on 133 933 to arrange to install the licence again.

CD burning
To create your own Audio or Data CD:

  1. Click 'Copy to CD or Device' from the taskbar.
  2. In the 'Items to Copy' pane, select the playlist or category of tracks that you want to copy from the Media Library.
  3. If necessary, clear the check boxes beside any tracks that you don't want to copy.
  4. Insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW in your CD writer.
  5. In the 'Items on Device' pane, select the type of CD you wish to create.
  6. Click 'Copy'.

Notes

  • Tracks must be in your Media Library before you can copy them to a CD. All the tracks in the pane are selected by default. You can deselect or reselect all the items in the 'Items to Copy' pane by clicking the check box at the top of the list.

INFORMATION.

What is a licence?
All music in BigPond Music is digitally protected media. This protection uses a secure e-commerce system called Digital Rights Management (DRM), which protects digital content from illegal use. In other words, DRM encrypts each digital media file so that only people who have legally acquired a proper licence can play the file.

This restricts illegal distribution of the music in several ways:

  • It restricts playback to a computer with a valid licence
  • It limits the number of times a track can be burnt to CD
  • It can create a temporary music file with an expiry date, for music released on a promotional basis (free promotional tracks, for example).

System Requirements

  • Download and playback: - requires Microsoft Windows Media Player 10 or higher.
  • Operating Systems - BigPond Music will run on Windows 98 SE + and Mac OS 9+ (site browsing only)
  • Web Browsers - BigPond Music Store requires Internet Explorer 4+ or Netscape 6+

Notes
Windows NT does not support the Windows Media Player versions required to unwrap the licence for your music. Due to this limitation, users operating on Windows NT cannot purchase and download music.

NAVIGATION.

Navigating the site
Just like your local music store, you can find what you want in BigPond Music by looking under the Artist (or Group) categories. This makes it easy for you to find all the available releases by any artist through the main "Songs by Artist" page.

Searching the site
To search the site for an artist's song titles or albums, simply enter your query into the search box in the left hand side of the site and hit 'GO'.

Your search results will be split into albums and tracks. You can then choose an album to buy or listen to a sample of a track directly from your search results. Or, to continue your artist search, click on an album title and you'll be shown all the tracks from that album.

Listening to samples
To hear a sample of your selected track, click on the listen icon (which looks like a small speaker) located to the right of the track.

The track will take a moment to buffer, and then play within the Media Player at the top of BigPond Music.

You can pause and resume your playback at any time, by clicking the play/pause icon. You can also mute the playback by clicking the speaker icon.
