The album is a snapshot of 4AD's status in the mid-'90s as a purveyor of jangly, creative pop (as per the Breeders' "Saints" and Air Miami's "Pucker"), mood music (Dead Can Dance's "Rakim," and Michael Brooks' "Diffusing"), and dreamy folk-rock (the Red House Painters' "San Geronimo" and Kendra Smith's "Bold Marauder").
