Sydney Festival has scooped another big name, with the news that Icelandic pop queen Björk is set to return to Australia in January.

Having sold more than 15 million albums worldwide (including her latest release, Volta), Björk will appear for one night only within the majestic surrounds of Sydney Opera House Forecourt on Wednesday 23 January. Earlier this year, the "Human Behaviour" singer headlined the massive Glastonbury Festival in the UK, which led The Guardian to write: "Fifteen years into her solo career, Björk remains the least compromising and most fantastical pop superstar extant."

Tickets for all Sydney Festival events will go on sale on Friday 2 November.
