Fans of British girl super-group the Spice Girls will be disappointed with the news that the fab five-some – Posh, Scary, Sporty, Baby and Ginger – have cancelled their plans to head down under.

The Spice Girls’ much touted world tour is now set to end in Toronto, Canada, on Tuesday 26 February, with the pop stars announcing they were ditching planned shows for Sydney, Beijing, Cape Town and Buenos Aires on Friday 1 February.

“Sadly the tour needs to come to an end by the end of February due to family and personal commitments for Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria,” the group said in a statement issued by the management.

Insiders are blaming poor ticket sales and too-high prices as the reasons for the group’s cancellation.

The Spice Girls’ world tour kicked off in Canada on Sunday 2 December.
