Melbourne five-piece
Augie March have announced they’re heading back into the studio to begin work on the anticipated follow-up to 2006’s acclaimed Moo, You Bloody Choir – an album which saw the “One Crowded Hour” outfit take out the $25,000 Australian Music Prize (AMP) for Album Of The Year.
Augie March will record their fourth longplayer at Roundhead Studios in New Zealand (which is owned by
Neil Finn), where they’ll be joined by acclaimed producer Joe Chicarelli who, as well as famously discovering Tori Amos, has also worked with
The Shins,
Beck,
U2 and
Rufus Wainwright.
With roughly 20 new songs up their sleeve, according to frontman Glenn Richards, “There’s not really a theme this time around but I will say that so far the songwriting is a step above Moo.”
The LP is set for an October release.
