Legendary American singer/songwriter
Bob Dylan has added his name to the growing list of celebrities endorsing Democratic presidential candidate Barrack Obama, labeling the senator “a forward thinker”.
Dylan – currently in London for the opening of his exhibition “The Drawn Blank Series”, over 300 of his watercolours – told Times journalist Alan Jackson that, “America is in a state of upheaval. Poverty is demoralising. You can’t expect people to have the virtue of purity when they are poor. But we’ve got this guy out there now who is redefining the nature of politics from the ground up... Barack Obama. He’s redefining what a politician is, so we’ll have to see how things play out. Am I hopeful? Yes, I’m hopeful that things might change. Some things are going to have to.”
Dylan’s not the only star to lend his support to Obama’s campaign: as the first African-American candidate, he’s also found allies in the likes of P Diddy,
Bruce Springsteen,
Decemberists,
Goo Goo Dolls,
Ne-Yo, and
Arcade Fire amongst many others.
