The film is loosely based on the story of Diana Ross and The Supremes, and is set for a Christmas Day release in the US. Beyoncé plays the part of the Ross-inspired character in the movie and has been nominated in the Best Actress category. She also co-wrote "Listen" from the movie, which is competing in the Best Song category. The ceremony is due to take place on Monday January 15 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
