Nominations for the most prestigious music accolade in Britain – the Mercury Music Prize – have been announced.
The prize is awarded to the best album in Britain and Ireland each year, with 2007’s top gong taken out by Myths Of The Near Future trio
Klaxons.
Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has scored his third nomination in three years thanks to his latest outfit, The Last Shadow Puppets, while indie kings Radiohead are also up for the gong.
With the winner set to be unveiled at a London ceremony on Tuesday 9 September, the shortlist includes:
