A judge in Wales, UK, has taken an unlikely step in preventing a fan of Irish rockers U2 from playing his favourite band’s music too loudly: he’s been ordered to destroy his CD collection.

Graig resident Karl Wiosna played his music so loud that neighbours were forced to call police repeatedly, leading to arrest and sentencing this week.

Admitting to breaching the peace during a hearing at Pontypridd Court, Wiosna revealed that the “Pride (In The Name Of Love” outfit were his favourite band, while he also gave Cher’s “Believe” quite a good spin too.

Neighbours described the sound as being “like a drag queen party” – and the judge agreed, ordering Wiosna to destroy both his CDs and the stereo he played them on. Whether or not he’s bought headphones hasn’t been revealed.

U2 are currently recording their new album alongside Brian Eno at a studio in Dublin.
