They’re one of the hottest acts to break through in 2008, and now New York duo MGMT are making their first visit to Australia.

The “Time To Pretend” star’s debut album, Oracular Spectacular, has been one of the most acclaimed releases of the year, with Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser’s unique brand of psychedelic pop topping charts worldwide and landing on many critics’ best-of lists.

Making their first trek to Oz, the duo will be supported by Luke Steele (the Sleepy Jackson) as well as new Modular signing Tame Impala.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday 19 August, and dates are:

Saturday 6 December – Belvoir Amphitheatre, Perth, WA

Tuesday 9 December – Enmore Theatre, Sydney, NSW

Wednesday 10 December – The Tivoli, Brisbane, QLD

Thursday 11 December – The Palace, Melbourne, VIC
