Having turned 50-years-old last week, the King Of Pop (aka “Billie Jean” singer Michael Jackson) has told fans “the best is yet to come”... but some people just don’t agree.

David Baird is the president of the Southern Scottish Counties Burns Association, an organisation which celebrates the work of Scottish poet Robbert Burns.

According to the Thriller star’s best mate, TV producer David Gest, Jacko has recorded an album’s worth of songs inspired by Burn’s work – and Baird’s not happy.

“The idea of turning Burns’s tunes and songs, which he carefully collected, into ‘show tunes’ just kind of grates,” Baird admitted to the BBC, with Jackson reportedly covering legendary Burns work such as “Auld Lang Syne”.

Maybe, the academic has suggested, the pals might be “thinking of plagiarising Burns and cashing in on the 250th anniversary next year.”

Whether the poetic tracks will be released, says Gest, remains to be seen.
