[Source: NME.com] Stars of music, television and movies came out in force last night to watch Barack Obama make his acceptance speech for presidential nomination in Denver.
Speaking for almost an hour at the Democratic National Convention, Obama’s speech prompted much chanting of ‘Yes we can!’ from the crowd which included
Fergie, Jennifer Hudson, George Lucas, and actresses Jessica Alba and Susan Sarandon.
“It was amazing. It was excellent,”
Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie told the Associated Press after Obama spoke. Prior to the speech, her fellow band mate
will.i.am performed the track “Yes We Can” with
John Legend during the entertainment segment prior to Obama’s speech..
Singing “Change Is Gonna Come”,
Sheryl Crow also showed her continued support for Obama, whose ‘Change’ promise was flagged on posters and signs held aloft by many of the 84,000 supporters in Invesco Field.
Oprah Winfrey was also on hand to show her support of Obama, saying the speech was “the most powerful thing I have ever experienced” and admitting she cried her eyelashes off. Winfrey and saying “He’s not an African-American candidate. He’s a candidate for Americans.”
