Jessica Simpson has requested her performance at the annual Kennedy Center Honors in the US last month not be aired as part of the ceremony's telecast. During the ceremony, Simpson forgot the lyrics to "9 To 5" and left the stage in tears while attempting a tribute to legendary country singer Dolly Parton. Having seen footage of her second attempt at the song, Simpson has asked her performance be deleted from the show's airing, which goes to TV in the US on Boxing Day. "We appreciate the time and energy Ms Simpson put into this event," the show's producer said, "and respect the high standards she has for herself and that of the Kennedy Center Honors." Simpson's publicist, Cindi Berger, said the singer "really wasn't happy" with the performance.
