Seminal hard rocker
AC/DC – who’re set to unleash their latest LP, Black Ice, on Saturday 18 October – have taken out pole position in a new list of the 50 Most Influential Australian Albums. GQ magazine’s music issue hits newsstands tomorrow, and features a countdown of the most seminal discs in our musical history, as decided by a panel put together by the magazine.
AC/DC’s famous longplayer Back In Black leads the pack, closely followed by the disco soundtrack created by the
Bee Gees – Saturday Night Fever. Other artists featured in the top ten include the
Easybeats (The Loved Ones),
the Saints (I’m Stranded) and the
Birthday Party (Junkyard).
GQ also asked current musicians for their most influential records, with the
Living End singer Chris Cheney naming
You Am I’s influential Hourly Daily, and singer-songwriter
Josh Pyke choosing
Augie March’s Sunset Studies.
