Illinois pop punkers
Fall Out Boy were due to drop their latest LP, Folie a Deux, on Tuesday 4 November – now that date’s in doubt, says the band’s label. The reason for the delay? The group don’t want to clash with the mass media coverage that’s guaranteed to take place the same day as the upcoming US presidential elections.
“Six months ago we thought it would be a fun idea to release our album on election day but this is not the election to be cute,” the “This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race” four-piece said, via a statement on their website. “We felt as though rather than making a commentary we were only riding the wave of the election. This seemed less and less like what we intended to do and more of a gimmick. It is now in the hands of our label to give us a new release date.”
Pete Wentz and co say they don’t want for fans to have to wait too long to hear the new tunes. “It is our intent to get our record out this year and as soon as possible – as we made sure to have it done in time for its original release.”
Meanwhile, the band has revealed that they’ll feature a special guest on the new LP – British singer/songwriter
Elvis Costello. The first single from the new disc is “I Don’t Care”, out now.
