[Source: NME.com] Jurors in Britney Spears’ driving trial failed to reach a unanimous verdict, which resulted in the case being declared a mistrial yesterday.

The pop star was facing charges for driving without a valid Californian license, following an event in Los Angeles last August when Spears was photographed hitting a parked car and leaving the scene.

Jury deliberation began on Friday 17 October. Yesterday a jury foreman announced that the jurors could not reach an agreement. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Steele encouraged them to deliberate further in hopes that they would reach a verdict.

However, today the foreman announced that the panel failed to agree after four votes on whether the singer was guilty of the misdemeanour charge, reports the Associated Press.

Steele then thanked the jurors for their service, dismissed them and concluded the trial. It has not yet been announced whether Spears will be retried.
