Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is on a health kick – the 43-year-old “Jeremy” singer is currently undergoing a crash detox diet in order to lose weight, after piling on the pounds on the band’s recent US tour.

“It’s a heavy detox, so nothing in my belly except water, salt and cayenne pepper,” he confessed to actor Josh Brolin, who was interviewing the singer in the States for the upcoming issue of Interview magazine. “I’m doing the Master Cleanse, which also means I’m not smoking. I haven’t smoked for four days.”

Whether or not the keen surfer would have success on his quest to get fit, is, he jokes, up in the air. “I don’t know how it’s all going to come out,” he admitted. “This is, like, four days in. In fact, I don’t want to talk about it. But it does feel weird. I’m feeling different ... I’m kind of walking around in a daze, wondering if this is all really happening.”

Vedder has recently penned an introduction for the new book about his good pal, the frontman of The Who: the title is called Who Are You: The Life of Pete Townshend.
