They recorded one of disco’s most famous anthems, but according to Robin Gibb – one third of the Bee Gees – the band never actually watched the film Saturday Night Fever until the public also got the change to view it.

According to the 58-year-old singer, the Bee Gees have never bothered to watch the John Travolta-starring legendary film, despite creating the unforgettable soundtrack, which included such hits as “Stayin’ Alive” and “How Deep Is Your Love”.

Gibb says the band went to the movie’s premiere back in 1977 – but walked out after 30 minutes.

“It’s not that I can’t watch it. It’s just that I’m restless,” he confessed to BBC Radio on the weekend. “We didn’t see the film until the premiere, where we only lasted half an hour”.

The soundtrack to the movie went on to sell over 40 million copies.
