Brandon Flowers, frontman of Las Vegas outfit The Killers, is a tad upset that fans aren’t quite getting his words right. The “Somebody Told Me” singer – whose brand new album, Day & Age, is due out next week – reckons that the words to the band’s latest single, “Human’, aren’t that hard to understand…

In the track Flowers sings, “Are we human, or are we dancer?” – which some listeners are accidentally interpreting as, “Are we denser?” The 27-year-old singer isn’t impressed: the line was, he says, inspired by legendary gonzo journalist Hunter S Thompson.

“That sucks a bit. I don’t like, ‘Are we denser?’ as an alternative. I really care what people think but people don’t seem to understand ‘Human’. They think it’s nonsense. But I was aching over those lyrics for a very long time to get them right.”

Flowers also revealed that the band experienced one of their most surreal moments in their career recently – meeting former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, who came upon the band wearing an Alice Cooper mask, backstage at the famous Royal Albert Hall in London.

“As a band, we’re not very good socially,” Flowers jokes. “At first, we all just stared at him. What do you say to Paul McCartney? Eventually, we did get chatting, and he told us that it had been a great show.”
