US singer Ashlee Simpson has spoken publicly for the first time about her brand new role as mother to one-month-old Bronx Mowgli, telling fans that, “Motherhood is the most fantastic experience.”

The 24-year-old singer, who gave birth on Thursday 20 November with husband Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy) by her side, penned a new update on her MySpace page yesterday, admitting her new baby “makes me laugh and smile everyday!” “I finally left the house for Fall Out Boy’s show on Monday night, which was so good,” she says, commenting on her husband’s latest LP, Folie à Deux, which is due out this month. “Their new songs sound awesome live, I can’t wait for their new record!”

The singer also headed out for an art exhibition of works by Wentz and his pal Travis McCoy, where Wentz also revealed to onlookers that fatherhood is “awesome”. “Every time I see my son, it looks like he’s landing on the moon and discovering new rocks and stuff,” he said. “I mean, every time he looks at his hand, it’s like he’s Christopher Columbus making it across the ocean. It’s pretty awesome.”
