Famous for his head of hair as he is his business ventures, “The Apprentice” mogul Donald Trump has revealed he’s a big fan of Canadian singer/songwriter Neil Young.

Headed to Australia next month for a headlining slot on the Big Day Out, as well as highly anticipated solo shows, the 63-year-old “Needle And The Damage Done” guitarist is a long-time favourite of the New York City billionaire.

“He’s got something very special,” Trump admitted yesterday, after being spotted at Young’s concert on Tuesday 16 December. “I’ve listened to his music for years and I’ve seen him before that, but I went to the concert where they were honouring Bob Dylan years ago at Madison Square Garden [Bob Fest] and Neil got up and totally brought the house down. There was nobody close … I’ve met him on occasions and he’s a terrific guy.”

Describing his voice as “perfect and haunting”, Trump named “Rock And Roll” as one of his favourite Young tracks. “There’s just one voice like that,” he points out. “Whatever the hell ‘it’ is, he’s got it.”

Neil Young kicks off his first solo show on Wednesday 21 January at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
