He was born Norman Quentin Cook 45 years ago, but is better known to music lovers as DJ/producer Fatboy Slim. Now reports in the UK have revealed that former Housemartins muso – who was recently in Australia last month – has entered rehab, for alcohol abuse.

The “Praise You” star headlined the Good Vibrations festival across the country back in February, but has since returned home and entered a local treatment facility. “Norman’s gone in voluntarily to sort out his drinking problem,” says manager Gary Blackburn. Married to TV presenter Zoe Ball, British tabloids have jumped onboard the story. “Norman decided that the only way to kick his booze addiction for good was to check himself into a clinic,” an unnamed ‘source’ was quoted in The Sun. “He chose the centre in the South of England because it gets good results and is in a quiet location.”

Fatboy Slim’s next project is a joint concept record with former Talking Head David Byrne, due for release mid 2009.
