Former Savage Garden singer
Darren Hayes will release his next album on his own indie label, Powdered Sugar. Hayes, whose previous release was 2004's The Tension And The Spark, has left Columbia Records and said he's planning on releasing his new LP in August. "After ten years of being a part of the major label system I've decided my next record is going to be released independently," the 34-year-old Hayes revealed via his website. "I'm going indie… 2007 is going to be my year! I feel lucky that the commercial success of my past has allowed me the financial freedom to record my new record independently. It makes artistic sense for me to retain the creative freedom and control I've enjoyed recently and continue forging ahead on my own terms."
