They’ve won over critics with their debut album, the chart-topping Walking On A Dream. Now colourful musos Luke Steele (the Sleepy Jackson) and Nick Littlemore (Pnau) – aka Empire Of The Sun – have joined forces with BMW to help launch a brand new model in Australia: the BMW Z4.

BMW have a long association with the art world, having commissioned artists such as Andy Warhol in the 1970s and, more recently, teaming up with outfits like Moloko and the Presets. Now the “We Are The People” singer has reworked iconic Blackbox Recorder track “The Art Of Driving”, Steele re-recording the song (with his wife, Jodi, on vocals) for a TV campaign for the new luxury car.

“I loved the track,” says Steele. “It was exciting to be able to give it the Empire Of The Sun treatment. To be part of this project for the launch of the BMW Z4 was a real thrill. I think people will like the track’s lush melodies and fantasy laden lyrics, make of them what you will!”

The TVC will air this month, while the track will be released commercially in June as a b-side.
