They’ve already recorded an album with über-producer Danger Mouse; now Akron, Ohio duo the
Black Keys have been hitting the studio with two of hip-hop’s most interesting artists. Harlem rapper
Jim Jones frequently lets loose via his Twitter account, yesterday revealing that he joined the “Your Touch” rockers in the studio for a jam session.
“I’m on my way to me the
black keys a new rock n roll group then summer jam rehearsal lg,” the “We Fly High” rapper blogged, later updating to say it all went well. “Aight back to our reg schedule I did some dope music with black keys and mos def last night def a good rock n roll experience.”
Representatives for both the
Black Keys and
Mos Def (who is set to release his fourth solo LP, The Ecstatic, this week) confirmed that the four artists did indeed record music together... but no one’s sure exactly what it was. “It’s not set for release yet anywhere,” Mos Def’s publicist says via email. “They were just in the studio collaborating.”
