Babyshambles singer and former boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss, Pete Doherty, earned the ire of British Airways over the long weekend, after he was arrested and fined by police in Geneva, Switzerland, after he was caught allegedly injecting drugs during a BA flight.
According to a report in UK newspaper the Daily Star, cabin crew onboard the flight reportedly spent 25 minutes in the plane’s toilet, and was found slumped with a needle his arm when he eventually unlocked the door.
"They eventually managed to get in 10 minutes before the plane landed," one passenger told the newspaper. "Pete was taken back to his seat and he looked completely out of it. One of the crew took the needle out of the toilet wrapped in a tissue."
A spokesperson for Geneva police admitted he was taken into custody after the plane landed in Geneva. "We were contacted by the captain of a BA flight and a passenger was controlled by police," a police spokesperson said. "He was charged, but I cannot say what with. He paid a fine and was allowed to go."
The 30-year-old singer later performed the Neuchatel Open Air music festival. Doherty's most recent release is his debut solo album, Peter Doherty: Grace/Wastelands, which hit stores in March.
