Hip-hop queen Missy Elliott is planning on turning her rise to fame into a Hollywood movie.

The “Get Ur Freak On” singer (real name Melissa Arnette) hit the top of the charts with hits like “Ching-A-Ling” and “Lose Control”, and says her story of overcoming hardship to find success is definitely worth telling.

From the age of eight Elliott was repeatedly raped by an older cousin, and often saw her mother being physically abused by her father, who once pulled her gun on her. She is also the only female rapper in history to have six albums certified platinum in the States.

“It’s happening; I’ve just got to find a great writer because I wouldn’t want my story watered down,” Elliott revealed to Elle magazine about the film. “I went through a lot, and I accomplished a lot, and I want people to know how it all went down.”
