Taking a cue from his bandmates, who’ve released their own discs while their full-time gig is on hiatus, Julian Casablancas – lead singer of New York City rockers
the Strokes – has announced he’s dropping a brand new solo album.
Phrazes For The Young is the name of the “Is This It?” singer’s first musical foray on his own, a record he wrote and recorded over the past 12 months. The new LP was produced by Jason Lader, who has previous worked with Jay-Z, Coldplay, Gwen Stefani and Justin Timberlake, while Bright Eyes/Monsters Of Folk collaborator Mike Mogis also lent a hand. The album will contain eight tracks, including titles "River of Brake Lights," "Glass" and "Ludlow St".
Since they took a break following their third album, First Impressions Of Earth, various members of the hipster band have released their own side projects. Guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr. has two solo discs to his name, while bassist Nikolai Fraiture recorded under his alter ego, Nickel Eye. Meanwhile drummer Fabrizio Moretti dropped a new longplayer with his outfit Little Joy.
