New York City disco outfit the
Scissor Sisters are hard at work on the follow-up to 2006’s Ta-Dah, with frontman Jake Shears revealing the new disc will be released in March 2010.
According to the “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing” singer, the new record is nearly complete. The band have teamed up with producer Stuart Price for the new album, whose previous clients include
Madonna and
the Killers.
Shears says he had a rather interesting realisation when pondering what the album’s sound should be. “I had a moment. I was at a sex party in Mannheim, I was on the dance floor,” Shears told Stereogum. “It was six o’clock in the morning. I was wearing a little rubber wrestling singlet. I was having a great time. It was disgusting… The most vile place I’ve ever been. And I was dancing, and the DJs put on ‘Walk The Night’ by the Skatt Brothers. It’s one of my favourites. It was one of those revelatory moments for me when I realised what I wanted the album to sound like and how I wanted it to make me feel.”
Fair enough.
