With her latest album, Come To Life, due for release next month, former “Neighbours” star/ex-Mrs Daniel Johns – Natalie Imbruglia – says she still gets annoyed and upset whenever she sees herself in the tabloids. The 34-year-old singer has returned home for a quick promotional visit to promote her new LP, and says the support of her mum is never too far away.

“I call to warn her,” Imbruglia told reporters yesterday, when asked about her private life being splashed across the papers. “I don’t have security guards, I don’t get papped. It is really only here that there is this obsession with my personal life. I go out, I get photographed with people and it becomes a story. I am not going to stop going out.”

While she won’t talk about her romantic relationships, she is happy to discuss her musical friendships, including that with collaborator Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay.

“[Coldplay] are such a huge success it was always going to draw a lot of attention to the album but that was not why I included them,” she says. “Chris is one of the best songwriters in the world and it was such an incredible opportunity.”
