Organisers of the annual electronic music festival Parklife breathed a sigh of relief on the weekend, after pint-sized rapper
Lady Sovereign (aka Louise Amanda Harman) took to the stage after having to appear in court on the morning of Saturday 26 September.
It appears the “Love Me Or Hate Me” singer was determined to kick off her partying in Australia in a big way, arriving in the Queensland capital on Friday night. After heading out to The Beat club in Fortitude Valley, she was later thrown out of the venue after midnight, reportedly shouting and struggling with a bouncer. Sovereign was charged with assault, after spitting in the bouncer’s face – a charge a local magistrate said he took seriously due to health implications.
Sovereign appeared in court on Saturday morning and was fined AUS$400 and a further $200 as compensation to the bouncer. A Parklife spokesperson later quipped that organisers were pleased to have their star out of police custody.
