Currently in the midst of their 360 world tour, the biggest band in the world – aka Irish group
U2 – have revealed that they may decide to release the soundtrack to their upcoming Broadway musical, Spider-Man.
Frontman Bono and guitarist the Edge are helping to bring the tale of the super-hero to life on the New York City stage, the Broadway production set to open next February. Now, in an interview with Rolling Stone, the pair say they might make their contribution available to the wider public.
“It’s hard to say [about a
U2 Spider-Man album],” says the Edge. “There will be a Spider-Man album, but whether it’s us or the cast, that’s the sort of thing we’re not sure about. There are some amazing tunes.”
Bono, however, says he’s definitely keen. “I want to do Spider-Man,” he admits. “I just haven’t talked Adam [Clayton, bassist] and Larry [Mullen, drummer] into that.”
If they do release it, it’ll certainly be a busy year for the band – as well as continuing their tour, they’ll also be releasing Songs Of Ascent, the follow-up to 2009’s No Line On The Horizon.
