Country music singer and Mr Nicole Kidman,
Keith Urban, has been announced as a headline act for the upcoming ARIA Awards on Thursday 26 November.
The 41-year-old singer last performed at the Australian music industry’s night of nights back in 2007, when he took to the stage with
John Butler. Now residing in Nashville, ARIA Awards event producer Mark Pope says he’s thrilled with Urban’s involvement.
“
Keith Urban is breaking from his overseas commitments to come home to Australia,” says Pope. “We all remember the magic of the moment with Keith and
John Butler – and this year, with the success of his latest album, Defying Gravity, it gives an opportunity to see him with the full band on stage. It’s going to be a hell of a moment.”
Broadcast live on the Channel Nine network, the night will also include an appearance by
Robbie Williams as well as plenty of local musicians.
“We’re convinced that this is going to be a really exciting and watchable night of television,” said ARIA chairman Ed St John. “The line-up runs the gamut [from] established superstars such as
Robbie Williams and
Keith Urban through to relatively new young artists such as
Jessica Mauboy.”
