Ronnie Wood, the long-time guitarist for British rock ‘n roll royalty the
Rolling Stones, has launched his first clothing line.
The 62-year-old musician – who made headlines in the tabloids this year, after dumping his wife of 15 years, Jo, for a 21-year-old Russian named Ekaterina Ivanova – is also an accomplished artist. His new autumn/winter collection for shop and label ‘Liberty of London’ gets its inspiration from a selection of his canvas paintings, which have been translated onto various fabrics.
Wood says the idea came about after meeting Liberty of London’s Creative Director Tamara Salman, during a shopping spree.
“Everything was 50 percent off, and there I was, going, ‘I’ll have this couch, I’ll have that chair’ – I didn’t realise what it really meant was 50 percent on,” he told The Times. “I swear I came out £5,000 (AUS$8,922) lighter.”
Prices for Wood’s clothing start at $250 for a jumper.
