With over 36 million albums sold worldwide, the latest release from Brooklyn chanteuse
Norah Jones is geared up to be one of the biggest records of 2009. Due out next week, The Fall sees the “Come Away With Me” singer taking a new direction – teaming up with producer Jacquire King (
Kings Of Leon,
Modest Mouse) and collaborating with songwriters
Ryan Adam and Will Sheff (
Okkervil River).
Now the 30-year-old (daughter of famed sitarist
Ravi Shankar) has revealed she’s asked a few friends to create special remixes of new tracks, teaming up with
Beck,
Beastie Boys and
Santigold.
“With the way things are now in the record business, every outlet wants extra content,” Jones told US magazine EW. “
Beasties Boys did one, and
Beck, and
Santigold; I love
Santigold. There are elements in her record that inspired me to try little things. Some of her songs are great pop songs, but they have all these cool instruments on them and sound organic even though they’re electronic. Those were the kind of sounds I was going for on my album.”
