He’s one of Canada’s most legendary musicians, with a career spanning decades and hits under his belt like “Heart Of Gold”, “Cortez The Killer” and “Like A Hurricane”. Now 64-year-old singer/songwriter
Neil Young (who toured Australia in January 2009) is set to be honoured during the upcoming Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Young’s musical legacy will be celebrated with a concert on Thursday 18 February at the Queen Elizabeth Theater, during the opening week of the Olympic Games. On the bill already are
Broken Social Scene,
Iron & Wine, Sun Kil Moon,
Ron Sexsmith and Joan As Police Woman, the artists planning to dig “deep into Young’s massive catalogue to illuminate hits and obscurities alike with magical pairings of song and singer,” says organiser Hal Willner.
Young is a proud Canadian but he hasn’t lived in the country for decades. He resides on his Broken Arrow Ranch in La Honda, California, which he purchased back in 1970.
