They’re the unlikeliest of couples: a reality TV blonde pop star, and the creator of the one of rock’s leading ‘90s bands. The romance between Jessica Simpson and Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman Billy Corgan is, according to reports in the US, heating up... and the couple aren’t denying it.

“My friend, Billy Corgan, has a pure and enlightened outlook on faith,” Simpson told fans via Twitter several weeks ago, the couple later spotted in public for the first time at a Los Angeles party last month. Since then, says a source, the pair have been taking things slowly. “They are getting to know each other. He’s a nice guy,” the source told a US news outlet. “She has completely fallen for Billy and his easygoing, smart attitude. She had secretly been crushing on him for months and felt there was a connection at the party.” The couple were most recently snapped by paparazzi leaving New York’s Ritz Carlton Hotel last week.

Thirteen years younger than the “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” rocker, Simpson reportedly wants to take things slowly, after splitting with American football star Tony Romo back in July. Before that, she was dating musician John Mayer, after divorcing 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey. Corgan has been divorced since 1997.
