It’s that time of year again – the day when people across the globe make promises as to what they’ll do better next year. According to 37-year-old Billie Joe Armstrong – frontman of Californian punk trio Green Day – his days of consuming illegal substances and drinking too heavy are gone.

“What will I never do again?” the “21 Guns” singer said, when asked for his new year’s resolutions. “Methamphetamine. I’d rather be huffing gas than sticking speed up my nose. I can’t do acid anymore, either. I would end up naked on top of the building, sucking my thumb and trying to find a happy place if I was ever to drop acid again.”

Armstrong was arrested back in 2003 for driving and drinking, and insists he’s not at all worried about turning 40 in a few years’ time. “I don’t mind getting older. I wouldn’t trade my future with anybody else’s.”

Green Day are currently in talks to launch their own version of the successful Rock Band franchise next year, while they’ll also continue their 21st Century Breakdown tour into 2010.
