On the heels of their DJ sets on Australian shores over the Christmas break, local electronic act Pendulum have a brand new studio album on the way.

Titled Immersion, the new disc is the follow-up to 2008’s In Silico, which reached number two on the British charts and number nine here in Australia. Although originally from Perth, the members of Pendulum – Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen and Paul Harding – have been living in the UK since 2003, hence their new material will get a live debut at London’s Matter Nightclub tonight. The performance, which will include a DJ set by the band members, will be streamed for fans to see a preview of their upcoming album at the band’s official website (www.pendulum.com) at 1pm (AEST) on Friday 22 January.

“It’s been two years in the making and I’m more excited about this record than anything we’ve ever done,” Swire recently said of the new album. “We’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with some of our idols, played live alongside some of the biggest names in rock and electronic music, and finally set up a permanent studio in London. We’ve learnt so much during the process and this next record really does feel like a culmination of all those experiences.”
