Here’s an end-of-decade list with a difference: it’s not who sold the most albums, who made the most cash, or who played the most live shows. There’s a new poll in the media which rates who had “the most famous kissing moment of the last decade”.
While most of the top ten incidents are moments from films or television, the kiss that tops them all was on stage, between two of music’s biggest stars.
Madonna and
Britney Spears’ infamous lip-lock, while performing with
Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, takes the cake, according to voters which contributed to a poll conducted by UK department store Selfridges. The cleverly staged kiss made headlines across the world, and is deemed one of the most shocking moments in the history of the music channel’s annual awards.
Coming in close behind was Tobey Maguire’s upside-down
Spiderman kiss with Kirsten Dunst, while the third most famous kiss was between actors Jake Gyllenhaal and the late Heath Ledger, in the landmark movie
Brokeback Mountain.
Bruno actor Sasha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell’s re-enactment of Madonna and Britney’s kiss at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) also made the top ten.
