[Source: NME.com] Etta James is in hospital having endured a “big battle” with various ailments.
The blues singer, 72, has been in the Riverside Community Hospital in Southern California, reports Reuters.
She is suffering from a bloodstream infection and speech difficulties among other ailments, her son, Donto James, explained.
“She’s been in a pretty big battle,” Donto said of his mother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.
The singer was recently treated for painkiller addiction before being moved to a nursing facility, then to the hospital. She is set to be discharged from hospital soon, Donto added.
Last year James was quoted as having a swipe at Beyoncé for singing a cover of her song “At Last” for Barack Obama – saying she could have sung it better herself.
