US singer/songwriter (and ex boyfriend of Jennifer Aniston)
John Mayer has announced he’ll return to Australia this April. Fans can expect the “Waiting for the World To Change” singer to be in fine form – he’ll be arriving in the southern hemisphere for his Antipodean tour just after completing an almost 50-date tour of the US and Canada.
Mayer will be performing songs from his latest album, Battle Studies, which was released late last year and promptly debuted on the US Billboard 200 chart at number one.
The 32-year-old musician recently gave a candid interview to US Rolling Stone, where he talked about his break-up with Aniston, a subject that has been favourite tabloid fodder since their relationship began in 2008. “I’ve never really gotten over it,”
Mayer said. “It was one of the worst times of my life.” But he admitted that he had to “back out of” the relationship with the realisation that, “This is not where I see myself for the rest of my life. This is not my ideal destiny.”
An avid Tweeter,
Mayer commented on the interview when the magazine hit the newsstands. “Just read my Rolling Stone cover article. I’m still not sure if I would want to hang out with me,” he wrote on Twitter. “After 30 minutes of twirling my hair into a knot, I say ‘f**k it.’ You can’t go wrong if you tell the truth.”
All of
Mayer’s concerts will be configured with Gold and Silver price categories. Tickets are on sale at 9am, Friday 19 February.
