US pop star Justin Timberlake donned a blonde wig and a funny costume to pick up his latest accolade – the 29-year-old “My Love” singer was named the ‘Hasty Pudding Man of the Year’ during a ceremony over the weekend at Cambridge’s Harvard University.
An annual roast put together by the prestigious school’s Hasty Pudding theatrical troupe, each year the school pays tribute to a celebrity deemed worthy of Harvard initiation. Timberlake is the first male singer to be given the award, with previous honourees including actors such as Tom Cruise, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford, and movie-makers like Steven Spielberg.
After enjoying a spectacle of actors impersonating ex-girlfriend Britney Spears and dressing up as his former NSync bandmates, Timberlake took to the stage in a blonde wig and pink high heels (dressing up is part of the initiation). He also donned a bra, with presents sewed into each cup – a play on his infamous ‘Dick In A Box’ skit on TV show “Saturday Night Live”.
“This is cooler than any Grammy or Emmy or anything I could have ever thought of. Thank you,” he told the crowd.
While there’s no new music from the singer as yet on the horizon, Timberlake is set to star in a new film about Facebook, called The Social Network, alongside actress Anne Hathaway.
