He’s famous for penning such sexy hits as “Your Body Is A Wonderland”, but now US singer/songwriter John Mayer has landed in hot water following a controversial new interview with Playboy.
In the new issue, the 32-year-old musician describes ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson as being like “crack cocaine”, referencing her sexual prowess. “Sexually it was crazy. That’s all I’ll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm,” he admitted. He was sweeter about more recent partner Jennifer Aniston, insisting he’d never write a mean song about the Hollywood actress (quashing rumours single “Heartbreak Warfare” was about her). “That woman was the most communicative, sweetest, kindest person… when you listen to Coldplay, do you think about Gwyneth Paltrow?” he asked. “I don’t write songs in order to stick it to my exes. I don’t release underground dis tracks.”
With his latest LP, Battle Studies, out now, Mayer admitted he’s slept with about “four or five” women since his split with Aniston, but says there were days when he saw, “300 vaginas before I got out of bed.” His comments about bedding only white women, despite being attracted to all races, also has him in the hot seat, with many of his three million Twitter followers labelling him a racist.
Fans have expressed shock at his comments, with others rushing to his defence. Mayer is keeping quiet.
