They’re one the most celebrated indie bands in the USA, but it seems as as if Seattle rockers Modest Mouse also have a soft side.

The band’s chief songwriter and frontman, Issac Brock, is taking time out from writing new tracks for the follow-up to 2007’s acclaimed We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank to lend his talents to a new children’s television show. Brock will pen new tunes for the animated series “The Marvellous Misadventures of Flapjack”, a “trippy” kids show brought to audiences by US channel the Cartoon Network.

The series follows the adventures of a boy named Flapjack, who’s constantly chasing down lollies and candies in order to satisfy his sweet tooth. The “Float On” singer is apparently a big fan, says creator Thurop Van Orman. He revealed Brock’s involvement on a new blog post, describing him as “about the greatest guy around, [who is] is doing some kickass music for us.”

Currently playing sporadic shows throughout the USA in 2010, the band are set to re-issue album The Moon & Antarctica to celebrate its tenth anniversary. There’s no word as yet as to when a new album will be recorded.
