Controversial rock & roller Marilyn Manson (born Brian Warner) will take to the big screen in his first major Hollywood film role, alongside girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood.

The 41-year-old “Beautiful People” star – blamed for everything from the Columbine high school massacre tragedy to owning Nazi memorabilia – will appear in the upcoming flick Splatter Sisters, the first movie in a franchise inspired by cult horror classics of the 1980s.

The movie will be directed by David Gordon Green, who helmed the Seth Rogen/James Franco comedy Pineapple Express. He’s also filmed the upcoming remake of Suspira, which is also currently screening at Cannes.

“This is a role Marilyn Manson was born to play,” the director told a Cannes press conference. “And with Evan Rachel Wood bringing dramatic gravity to the ensemble, I have no doubt this will take the horror genre to a new level.”

Marilyn Manson, also an acclaimed visual artist, released his seventh studio album, The High End Of Low, in 2007.
