Randy Jackson, the 48-year-old brother of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, wants fans of the deceased “Thriller” star to be able to visit his brother’s grave.
The second youngest of the nine Jackson siblings, Jackson says he’s hoping to convince organisers of Los Angeles’ Forest Lawn Memorial Park to allow the public in to pay their respects next month. “I’m meeting with Forest Lawn and the City of Glendale,” Jackson posted via Twitter yesterday. “Although they have strict rules, I’ll do my best 2 see if fans can visit & pay their respects beyond the gates of Forest Lawn, on the 25th. I will inform you all soon.”
The date Jackson is referring to is Friday 25 June, which will be the first anniversary of his older brother’s death. The area where the legendary entertainer is housed – in a private mausoleum – is normally off limits to the public. Descendants of other celebrities housed nearby are not happy: Clark Gable III, talking about his famous actor grandfather, told website TMZ that the mausoleum “wouldn’t be as sacred” is public visitors were allowed in.
Meanwhile, Jackson’s ex-wise, Lisa-Marie Presley, urged fans to send silk flowers for Jackson’s resting place, after visiting the cemetery. “I know how much he loved and appreciated being showered with gifts and flowers by his fans,” she urged, “I thought if whoever wants to bought just one silk sunflower each and sent it, the whole area around him and in front of him ... could be filled up in no time.” Soon after, flower grower Jason Levin delivered 2,000 sunflowers the site.
