They’re two of the most influential acts of the ‘70s and ‘80s, and now legendary rockers Blondie and Pretenders have announced they’ll visit Australia together on a joint tour.
The bands, both led by powerful frontwomen – Blondie’s Debbie Harry and the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde – will visit wineries across the country in November and December, as part of the A Day On The Green concert series.
Last time Blondie were in Australia was back in 2008, after the “Hanging On The Telephone” outfit headed out on a world tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their LP Parallel Lines. Their eighth studio album, Panic of Girl, is due out later this month.
The British “Stop Your Sobbing” Pretenders, meanwhile, already toured as part of the A Day On The Green series once before, visiting Australia three years ago. Says Hynde, “I can’t wait to rock out down under.”
Supporting both acts across the country will be Magic Dirt frontwoman Adalita, who’s set to launch her debut solo later this year. Melbourne’s Little Red will also be on the bill.
