Headed our way next month for a tour and a slot on the Splendour In The Grass festival, British singer/songwriter Laura Marling has revealed she’s recently been in the studio with none other than White Stripes frontman Jack White.

The talented 20-year-old – who released her second LP, I Speak Because I Can, back in March to critical acclaim – has already teamed up with the likes of Mumford and Sons, Noah and the Whale, the Rakes and Mystery Jets on various collaborations. The “Devil’s Spoke” singer headed to White’s Nashville Studios back in May to lay down a tune for his seven-inch ‘Blue Series’, which the Dead Weather drummer releases via his own label, Third Man Records.

“It was perfect – one take,” says White of the session. “She’s gorgeous. Gorgeous voice and an incredible person. A wonderful girl… It’s really beautiful what she recorded.”

Fans waiting to hear the release will have to stay tuned, with White not revealing a release date or a song title. He also let slip that he was thoroughly enjoying touring with his latest, hard rocking outfit, the Dead Weather. They’re currently trekking through the UK and Europe, White admitting he has no plans to re-team with the Raconteurs (known as the Saboteurs here in Australia) or the White Stripes anytime soon.
