It’ll be one of the hottest releases of 2010 – the brand new album from Tennessee rockers Kings Of Leon. With a possible October release date rumoured (though the band are staying mum on the exact date it’ll be in stores and online), the follow-up to 2008’s chart-topping Only By The Night is, says lead guitarist Caleb Followill, “very tropical and beachy.”
“There are definitely times when it’s very tropical and beachy,” he explained to the Toronto Sun, admitting fans can expect to hear fiddle, lap steel, and trumpet on the new disc. “But there is always that dark chord in there that makes it Kings of Leon. But we have actually done some things on this album that we’ve wanted to do for a long time, and I truly feel like with each album, we are getting closer to what it is that we want to do as a band.”
According to Followill, one things fans can definitely expect to not hear is another version of their megahit “Sex On Fire”, which has sold over a million downloads so far.
“We obviously get embarrassed when we see a lot of people covering that song, because we feel like it’s been done,” Followill admitted, discussing the Nick Jonas cover of another hit, “Use Somebody. “But it’s definitely better than if they were covering that piece of shit ‘Sex On Fire!’”
